Functional characterization of the thiosulfate-inducible IAA biosynthesis. (A and B) IAA titer (mg/L) of the engineered EcN strains harboring (A) pPhsA-IAA6 or (B) pPhsA-IAA7 plasmids in response to various combinations of tryptophan and thiosulfate concentrations. The engineered EcN strains were cultivated in an IAA production medium with various combinations of tryptophan (0, 0.5, 1, and 2 g/L) and thiosulfate (0, 0.04, 0.2, and 1 mM) levels for 24 h at 37 °C. Cell growth and IAA concentrations were measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer and HPLC analysis, respectively. Data represent the mean and SD from three biological replicates
